If you are starting from zero and looking to start a YouTube channel, here's what you do.
1. Get a name or a brand that is unique, not being used, and it will help if you have which kind of videos you'll be doing. This will make your channel memorable! You want people to remember where they saw your video.
Examples:
- Cassie The Makeup Guru
- GameDave
- Cooking With Jen
- Alpha Male Fitness
- The Vlogger Jogger
2. Go through all of the available social media outlets like, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and especially YouTube to research whether the handle has been taken. If it has also remember that you can take a spin on it to make it work like the underscore or dash marks between the words. Adding "Official" or "The Real" can help too. Try not to use numbers unless it actually means something to you or your brand.
3.Set up an email address first with the name of this venture so you can have a direct business contact relating to the channel and control everything therein. (example: cindycosplay@emailprovider.com)
4. Set up all of your other accounts under your new email. You want to use corresponding banners and profile pictures so your following will know that they have reached you. Setting up a blog or website is a bonus because it serves as a way to get new followers through search engines and a way to track your impact through traffic statistics. (BTW, many website hosting companies offer a personalized email feature.)
5. Ask everyone you know to follow your new venture. That includes, family, friends, co-workers, strangers you meet. To be completely honest, this base may not be your hardcore audience in the long run, but having their support in the beginning will help kick things off.
6. Subscribe or follow other people who are doing similar things. You'll also want to comment on their posts, because sometimes they check out the profiles of people who comment. If it looks like your niche is something they are interested in, you've got a new follower.
7. POST DAILY on all of your social media platforms about what you are doing such as:
- A picture of yourself or something in your life
- A picture of your next video or the behind the scenes
- A link to your last video or a current video
- A link to and old video
- A video snippet
- A live stream
- A link to another social media platform
8. Most of all, DO NOT LET THE NUMBERS BOTHER YOU! Low numbers are natural in the beginning. They will increase over time. Your numbers will grow if you KEEP POSTING RELEVANT CONTENT!
We hope these real social media success tips will help you in your endeavor to gain more views and subscribers on YouTube.
